About me
Hello! My name is Rachel Lynn I am a North Texas based flute and piano instructor who has been teaching for the last five years!
My journey with music began with piano lessons as a young child. I constantly credit my piano teacher with instilling music theory into my education and teaching me to look for the theory in my music that I would practice. When I was in high school, I started playing flute in band. I fell in love with concert band and orchestra and knew that I would want to be a part of the music world.
I graduated from Tarleton State University, with my bachelors in music and a minor in economics, with a teaching certificate, into the 2020 pandemic where everything I had just learned about teaching became obsolete. Through this challenging year, I learned more about how to connect with people through music.
My teaching philosophy is based in understanding the connection between flute and flutist, flutist and audience, and theory and repertoire. It is through music, people from every path find common ground, community, and joy. I teach my students to analyze music through music theory, phrase with intention, and connect to themselves and the world through the music they learn.
